American Influences on Australia, from a 1970s Pommie perspective.

Tutor : Phil Thom

Commencement date: 22 April 2021

Day and Time: Thursday 2-4 pm

Class Size: Min 5 – 20

Course Duration: 1 session

Venue: Apex House, Gollan Street, Ulverstone

Outline of course: The press never mentioned American influence during the 1970s – it was always ‘The Mother Country’ – England, yet I observed many clearly American influences. Putting this into an illustrated talk, I will include such things as furniture, fast food outlets, petrol stations, advertising, cold beer and some words amongst other things.

At the end of the talk, for those interested (and not squeamish) I will take a critical look at the Australian car industry (as was).
