Topics covered include: The Enigma of Health – In a year which has been totally dominated by a single health issue, this “yak” provides an opportunity to consider the wider issue of health itself. Some of the questions which could be discussed are: Do we really understand what we mean by “health and medicine”? What is their relationship? What about “illness”? What impact does health/illness have on our lives and who we are? What does the future of medicine look like and what sort of ethical dilemmas might it create? Time permitting we will also toss some ideas around on “Immortality – what have you got to lose.
Come to the coast – Yes, No If?: The cradle coast region has undergone significant recent development with investment opportunities attracting both interstate and overseas interest. This is likely to intensify and this “yak” is designed to debate the “pros” and “cons” of encouraging interest in the region.
